Lingerie shop vandalism

At Priscillas in Greenwood some things may be 50 percent off but you can see from the broken out window someone wanted to pay nothing.

The manager says, “Police have pictures. They know what he looks like.”

But the vandal not only hit the store once, he came back two more times. For cash?

We asked store manager Sandy what she thinks is behind it. “Honestly we don’t know. He broke a manikin. He tried to get the lingerie off the manikin. She ended up being dismembered. We call it the only casualty.”

But Priscilla’s at State Road 135 was not the only victim. Tasty’s a mile or so away in Marion County got a taste too. Someone broke the front door. One incident occurred here around the same time as the Priscilla’s, after hours and no one was hurt. Police think they are connected.

Some south siders also believe they are connected. One e-mailer told Eyetiwness News he thinks the media and Greenwood politicians are to blame because of what happened at the new lingerie shop on Greenwood’s Main Street.

XOParadise raised eyebrows when word first spread it was going to sell sex toys. The mayor and council raced to write a new law to ban that around schools, churches and homes.

Today, in her newly opened store, owner Michelle Kuntz said, “It’s just a cozy feeling. It’s warm, approachable. It’s elegant. And not the sex shop some feared.”

There’s no damage at her shop and she is not sure if the controversy over her store is tied to the vandalism elsewhere.

“It’s sad, it’s sad,” Kuntz says. “This is just a beautiful lingerie boutique. Greenwood’s police chief also doubts the new shops opening sparked the other vandalism cases.
