Sexy Australian Golfers Calendar Causes Controversy
A group of golfers from the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour appear in the “Top Shots: Women of Professional Golf 2007 Calendar,” wearing vintage clothes and in poses the organizers call “glamourous” but that others have called “racy” or even “raunchy.”
Proceeds from the sale of the calendars are pegged to the most prominent breast cancer charity in Australia. But that charity withdraws its support, citing the “perfect breasts” on (partial) display.
The controversy erupted when the National Breast Cancer Foundation of Australia stopped a print run and demanded that its logo be removed from the calendar. But there’s probably a happy ending: the controversy will surely result in better sales, and a different breast cancer charity will now benefit.
That’s Nikki Garrett, Ladies European Tour 2006 Rookie of the Year, to the right as she appears in the calendar.
