A House-Dressing, After A Fashion

Star power seems to be putting another Connecticut home in the spotlight.

As Mark Twain did for his digs on Farmington Avenue in Hartford and Martha Stewart did for her just-sold Turkey Hill Farm down in Westport, Clinton Kelly of TLC’s “What Not To Wear” is poised to make his new crib in Kent a star, thanks to a possible new program on the same cable station.

Seems Kelly, who guides lost souls on how to dress right, can do the same for the interior of a house. And apparently TLC is interested in the massive makeover he is doing on the two-story, two-bedroom, three-bath home in Litchfield County and has indicated it may want to do a show about Kelly’s home improvement.

“A crew did some filming of the work we’re doing, but nothing has been decided,” said Kelly, who is renovating much of the home, which was built in 1969.

Any possible show would be targeted for the fall.

And while the degrading “What Not To Wear” 360-degree mirror is not involved as work in the house moves forward, Kelly said the similarity between home decorating and wardrobe rehab is more alike than different.

“I think you can translate your sense of wardrobe style into a home,” said Kelly. “The colors, the textures that you love on your body can be adapted to your home.”

And as far as the “shut up ” factor, the phrase used by Kelly’s co-host, Stacy London, to express her glee over a successful makeover look?

“The master bath,” said Kelly. ” It is going to be all about the master bath.”
