Kate Moss, the fashion designer

Super Model Kate Moss now turns a fashion designerShe has been hitting tabloid headlines for all the wrong reasons but despite of recent scandals, supermodel Kate Moss is cashing in on her image to launch her own clothing line. And the queue outside the London Top shop shows she’s made a good business decision.

To call Kate Moss fashionable would be under-estimating her iconic style. Whatever the British-centric supermodel wears off the catwalk will undoubtedly be copied throughout the world.

It could have something to do with her rock n’ roll lifestyle. She’s the on-again, off-again girlfriend of Baby shambles front man Pete Doherty. Even a cocaine scandal two years ago couldn’t break “Iron Kate”.

But while nobody else can be Kate Moss, now at least women can dress like her. The woman single-handedly responsible for bringing skinny jeans back in vogue is launching her own fashion range for British retailer Top shop.

Kate Moss, supermodel says, “I’ve never done it before so it’s a whole new thing but I’ve seen it done for years and years and years so I know what changes need to be made.”

Rather than breaking any design boundaries, the collection is more of a snippet from her closet. Amongst other things, it will include flowery dresses, sequined tops and waistcoats. The clothes will have a “K” sewn into them and some pieces will have an emblem of sparrows - to match her tattoo.

Top shop’s Managing Director Karyn Fenn says the supermodel had a very hands-on approach to the collection.

Karyn Fenn, Top shop Managing Director, says, “She’s in all the time, she’s always got really nice sketches, tears, photographs. She’s constantly shopping vintage. She wears vintage herself, her style is very eclectic. She brings in clothes she had in the back of her wardrobe for years and years or things she’s actually gone out and bought for her Top shop range.”

At the age of 33 years, Moss is ancient in model years. But now she has a new hat to wear — Kate Moss, fashion designer.
