Pirates of the Carribbean actress Keira Knightley has been offered - and accepted - libel damages of £3,000 from the Daily Mail newspaper in proceedings following an article which claimed she had an eating disorder.

A picture in the newspaper of Knightley appeared with the headline “If pictures like this one of Keira carried a health warning, my darling daughter might have lived.”

The caption was related to the death of 19 year old Sophie Mazurek, due to an eating disorder. Knightley’s solicitor said the article implied the actress bore responsibility for the death.
