Sexy bikini : Israeli Knesset goes at war over Miss Israel’s Gal Gadot bikini photo

bikini photoQuiet unfortunately Israel commonly evokes war and violence; this time we report about a war unlike no other, the Israeli Knesset uproar triggered by Miss Israel’s Gald Gadot bikini photo on a party invitation of the Israeli Consulate in New York.

Andy Soltis of the New York Post broke the news on this unusual war. The bikini photo of 2004 Miss Israel winner Gal Gadot appears on formal invitations to an event hosted in New York tonight by the Israeli Consulate in conjunction with Maxim magazine.

Tonight’s event will celebrate the “Women of the Israeli Defense Forces” article in the July issue of Maxim. The party would have gone completely unnoticed but Former Consul-General Colette Avital, a member of the Israeli parliament, turned it into a political storm by demanding an urgent meeting with the Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik to get an explanation of what she called the “pornographic campaign,”

“It’s unfortunate that the Israeli consulate chose to emphasize Israel’s relevance with a portrait of a half-naked woman, instead of with one of women of substance and accomplishments,” doubled up Zahava Gal-On, a Knesset member and chairwoman of the Meretz Party.

Officials said then they wanted to show the diversity of Israel and change the perception that it was a land of conflict, and they are far from being wrong.

Unlike some Israeli female politicians tend to believe Gal Gadot’s bikini picture is far from being offensive; most important it features peace and normality, something unfortunately unusual for Israel which right to exist has been challenged by means of open war, guerrilla and terrorism by its arab neighbors ever since the state was founded.

Regardless of the outcome of what appears to be a storm in a glass of water we wish Israel and its wonderful people will have to face bikini wars only from now on.
